Celtic Personalised Football Calendar
A Unique Calendar Gift For Fans Of Celtic Football Club!
Celtic FC was formed in St Mary's Church Hall back in 1887 and the club won it's first ever recorded 'friendly' against fellow Glasgow-based club Rangers. Success in official competition would soon follow and over a century later, the Bhoys can now boast over forty league titles, over thirty Scottish Cup triumphs and the first ever European Cup to be won by a British team. With so many trophies to reflect upon, the 'friendly' against Rangers has now become a distant memory - especially as the two clubs have gone on to form one of the biggest rivalries in world football!
Gonedigging has found twelve of the best newspaper reports on the Bhoys from the past hundred years, which were all written about iconic Celtic FC moments and victories. We have combined these stories in a fantastic A3 Calendar, making the perfect gift for any Celtic fan who takes pride in the history of their club.
Calendar Features
These Celtic FC Calendars feature many terrific victories, including the Bhoys' League Cup wins of 1956, 1969 and 2000 against Partick Thistle, Hibernian and Aberdeen respectively. They also include the title-clinching league matches of 1979 and 2007, when Celtic were managed by Billy McNeil and then Gordan Strachan. Two other highlights of the A3 Calendar are the incredibly successful Jock Stein years and a collection of wins against Celtic's bitter rivals, Rangers.
Your Personalised Calendar marks the arrival of legendary Celtic Manager Jock Stein (CBE) in 1965 with an article written about his appointment. As a former player of the Bhoys, he was already loved by Celtic fans, but joined at a time when the club had gone eight years without a trophy. His success was instant and two years later, Celtic were the first British club to win the European Cup. They beat Inter Milan 2-1 in the final, which was held at Estadio Nacional in Lisbon. The Bhoys would briefly be renamed the 'Lisbon Lions' and they would roar their way to success in every competition they entered that year. With much additional success, the Jock Stein years would become a golden era for Celtic FC. In 1985, a touching tribute was written to mark the great man's death and this is also featured in the Celtic Calendar.
Apart from cup wins and league success, another essential aim of the club and it's supporters is always to beat their Glasgow rivals. Your Football Calendar therefore includes many stunning Old Firm wins: In 1964, the Bhoys beat Rangers convincingly with a 3-1 scoreline; in 1984, Paul and Wille Mcstay both scored to lead Celtic to a 3-0 victory; and six years later, Celtic knocked Rangers out of the Scottish Cup with a single Tommy Coyn goal. One of the most stunning derby wins however, was the 4-2 victory on the last day of the season in 1979. Celtic won the match, but also clinched the league title - right in front of their bitter rivals.
